i know. i was skeptical too but....
we learned so much about the movie 'Cars' on our trip on route 66. The movie is a big part of the revitalization of route 66. Every little gift shop along the way has at least one 'Cars' keychain or some other little souvenir. So when we saw a sign in this cafe that said this was the inspiration for Mater in their parking lot I said 'i wonder how many people are going to say that'. Turns out it was true tho. :) We met one of the sisters and she told us the whole story and showed us the scrap book and everything. Check out their website 4 women on the route (make sure you turn your sound down if you're at work tho.....) The experience we had here was typical of our whole trip.... we met the nicest, most interesting people!
okay, so 'Mater' lives in Galena, Kansas. There is only 13 miles of route 66 that passes thru Kansas.

so yesterday i asked for feedback from our blog readers on the images i posted. i got one email and one comment. and the comment didn't count cause it was from Tony and he probably took the picture anyway.
